About the institute

October 5, 1949 – Institute Foundation Day

Function of the Institute had been provision of design activities related to restoration of air fields destructed during the War, as well as construction of new ones. Through the years an immense amount of construction throughout the country had been accomplished based on Projects elaborated by the Institute.

Since late sixties the Institute has become one of the leading design enterprises engaged in design of the Strategic Armed Forces military air field and missile complexes, as well as special and spacecraft facilities located in Ukraine, the Far East, Trans-Baikal, central part of Russia, Kazakhstan, Central Asia, Transcaucasia, Belarus, Moldova, as well as Libya, Cuba, Poland, Hungary and Germany.

At the same time, a large number of residential complexes and facilities of social infrastructure on the demand of the Ministry of Defence were constructed and reconstructed based on the Projects elaborated by the Institute.

A new stage in the history

The new stage was related to the proclamation of the Independent Ukraine.
The Institute takes part in implementation of a number of international projects on reduction of weapons, as well as reduction of strategic nuclear weapons.

As a part of the Soviet troops withdrawal from Germany Program, residential areas were built for military personnel and their families in such cities, as Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Starokostiantyniv, Novohrad-Volynskyi, Khmelnytskyi and Pervomaiskyi were constructed based on the Projects elaborated by the Central design institute with overall area of 600 thousand square metres.

CURRENT WORK OF THE INSTITUTE

A large amount of Projects on construction and reconstruction of social, industrial, and special facilities on the demand of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, other State entities, local authorities, and commercial enterprises was successfully accomplished by the Institute.

A work that stands out among the Institute’s Projects is a participation in the design of Joint Ukrainian and Brazilian Project on the Construction of the “Cyclone-4” Land Base Space Launch System in Alcântara, State of Maranhão, Federative Republic of Brazil. State enterprise of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine “Central design institute” was appointed to be the “Cyclone-4” Land Base Space Launch System General Designer; whereas, State Design Office “Yuzhnoye” was appointed to be the General Implementer of the Project in question.

We are currently elaborating Projects on the construction of specific processing Facilities, such as “Completion of Construction of the Spent Nuclear Fuel Interim Storage Facility at the Territory of the SSE “Chernobyl NPP””; ammunition depots; State border security systems, etc.

Projects

During years of the independence of Ukraine we have completed Construction and Reconstruction Projects on buildings and facilities of certain social significance.

  • Arrangements for All Ministry of Defence Departments Accommodation;
  • Reconstruction of Premises for the Cabinet of Ministers;
  • Reconstruction of Premises for the National Tax Administration of Ukraine;
  • Reconstruction of Premises for the Head Customs Committee of Ukraine;
  • Reconstruction of Premises for the General Prosecutor’s Office in Hrushevskoho St.;
  • Arrangements for Accommodation of the Inspectorate-General under the Auspices of the President of Ukraine located in Dehtiarivska St.;
  • Construction and Reconstruction of Premises for the General Hospital;
  • Elaboration of Pre-Project Proposals and Business-Plan on the Construction of the Training Centres for the Peace-Keeping Forces of the Ministry of Defence and Public Order Safety Authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;
  • Reconstruction and Construction of Separate Premises for the Specialized Comprehensive School No. 177 located in Kurska St., Solomianskyi District, Kyiv, with world-class state-of-the-art equipment;
  • Construction of the Air Traffic Control Centres in Simferopol (currently occupied by the Russian Federation) and Dnipro (former Dnipropetrovsk);
  • Residential and Office Complexes located in Vorovskoho St.; Melnykova St.; Narodnoho Opolchennia St.; Dehtiarivska St.; 30a and 40, Boryspilska St., etc., with overall area of 350 thous. Square metres;

The Institute possesses the state-of-the-art material, technical and data base, as well as highly qualified staff, and it provides a complete range of design activities, including, but not limited to land and geological survey, and all parts of design documentation (architecture, civil engineering, engineering, technology, cost estimate, etc.).

State enterprise of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine “Central design institute” is always willing to fulfil high-quality and timely design activities of each and any complexity related to construction of Facilities for various purposes (military, special, air, residential, social, industrial, etc.) on the demand of entities of various property categories.
